DOUGLAS M. CARASSO
Position:
PartnerFor over 27 years, Douglas M. Carasso has handled all phases of civil litigation on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, from drafting complaints and taking and defending hundreds of depositions to trying cases and arguing before state and federal appellate courts. Doug’s wealth and variety of experience, training, and skills have made him especially effective in defending against cases alleging severe personal injuries and substantial economic losses.
Doug is an AV-rated attorney whose practice focuses on the defense of insureds in litigation based on motor-vehicle negligence, premises liability, and other civil actions. Before joining Macdonald & Cody, LLP, Doug spent over ten years handling insurance defense and over ten years litigating on behalf of plaintiffs. His areas of practice have also included business litigation, labor and employment, insurance bad faith, automotive product defect, class actions, and mass torts.
Doug’s trial experience includes obtaining substantial verdicts and settlements on both sides in insurance-bad-faith and personal-injury actions. He has extensive deposition and law-and-motion experience. He has fully briefed numerous appeals and orally argued before the Second Appellate District and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. As defense counsel, through settlement, arbitration and trial, Doug has settled many cases for a small fraction of what plaintiffs’ counsel initially claim as the settlement value.
